Ruby L. Gibbs, age 83 of Tallahassee, passed away on February 19, 2026. Private family only graveside services are scheduled on February 25, 2026, with internment at Roselawn Cemetery. Ruby was born in Seminary, Mississippi on September 20, 1942, to the late Joseph and Rita Mae Booth of Seminary, Mississippi. After graduating from Carver Central High School in 1963, Ruby later married and moved to New York City where she worked as a secretary and raised a family. Years later Ruby moved to Florida and successfully completed a certified nursing assistant certification program (CNA) at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. Ruby worked as a CNA in Tampa, Florida, for over 19 years.

Ruby was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Ray Booth, Sidney Booth, Joseph Booth, Jr., and one sister, Betty Anderson. She is survived by her children: Susan Dawson (Silvester) of Tallahassee; and Jennifer Gibbs, of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandsons, David Gibbs, and Patrick Dawson; two sisters, Pearlie Barnes, and Jewel Stone of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
