Linda D. Cofield, born in Merry Hill North Carolina on October 3, 1958, to the late Beulah Allen Cofield and Henry E. Cofield transitioned from this world on June 6, 2025. The beloved mother of two, a grandmother, and great grandmother, Linda’s torch still shines through her doting son, Allen Wilson (Andrea) of Tallahassee, Florida, loving daughter, Latonya Hammonds of Thomasville, Georgia, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Linda’s life held many chapters. Geographically, it could be sectioned into three parts: her time in northern states (both Philadelphia and Carolina), many years in Thomasville, Georgia, and the final section in Tallahassee, Florida.
After retiring from the dry-cleaning business, she did in-home childcare and volunteered at a daycare center whenever she spent time back home in Philadelphia. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, watching movies, and baking. On Sunday mornings you would find her in the spirit, as she spent time with the Lord in prayer and listening and singing along to her favorite gospel music.
She was easy and gentle, yet stern and strong as steel. People and children LOVED her and would find themselves opening up to her about anything and everything. A patient and kind woman of God, she led from a humble and loving spirit – frequently referring to scripture and reminding us that His word is all we need.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Henry Cofield, Ruth E. Cofield, Sharon Cofield, and Tracy Cofield, all of Bristol PA.
She is survived by her siblings Helen Doe (Emmanuel), Thomas Cofield, Gloria Cofield, James Cofield, John Cofield (Chantiel), Retha Miller (Ronald), Jackie Chapman (Gregory), Llona Franklin-Haskins (Jerry), Jonathan Franklin (Gina), Nicolett Cofield (Greg),
Alicia Cofield, Adrianna Cofield Cochran (John), Andrea Cofield, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of “adopted sons, daughters, and grandchildren” who affectionately referred to her as “ma” or “grandma” after coming to know her kind, loving honesty, and caring compassionate ways.
To know her was to love her.
